The end of the day approaches and you finally acknowledge that if you lay on your beach towel for much longer it could be considered a skin graft. Relaxed and greasy, you head off for the pre-evening preparations. After a shower and a generous application of aftersun, attend to cosmetic needs. Make-up with a tan is always tricky and even modest amounts can look excessive in the heat. Use an oil-free foundation or tinted moisturizer (see daytime make-up) or dab a little concealer where needed. If you want to define your eyes but keep the look natural, use waterproof mascara and add a tiny bit of eyeshadow on the middle of the eyelids and blend it across with your finger. Choose a sheer lip colour – avoid strong colours and heavy textures, which might clash with you tan or make you look tired.
